a hot air balloon landed on my run

So I have a few things in life that give me pure joy: my husband, my dogs, and running. Before you look up my address to personally come give me the stink eye, let me explain. I have never been a runner. In fact, I played tennis in high school and almost got kicked off the team because I refused to run. Anyway, a little over a year ago, a co-worker consistently ran before work to train for a marathon. We aren’t talking a mile here. We are talking: she got up, ran 14 miles and got her life together, all before arriving to work at 10am. I came to the realization that if she could do that before 10am, I could at least jog/walk 2 miles a day with my dogs. Fast forward to now, I have signed up for my first half marathon which I am running on Sunday, February 23, 2014 in Disney World.  I am not fast and it still isn’t easy, but I am overjoyed about what I will accomplish on Sunday and for pushing through the training for months.

Today I went for one of my last runs before the big one and I had a perfect “papery rain,” kind of moment. I was really struggling and really wanted to quit. I was so caught up in my mental discomfort, I almost missed a beautiful hot air balloon that landed in my neighborhood. I happened to look up as it started to land and decided to push through the pain and book it home to get a few snapshots before dark. Needless to say, I ran my best couple miles to date and ended up with some cool pictures. What a great way to end one of my last training days.
