I just received the July/August Country Living magazine and in their “Having a Moment” feature, circle skirts are their current obsession. I obviously fell in love with every piece (a feminine skirt that is forgiving, I’ll take them all), but a striped one caught my eye. It didn’t take very long to realize (maybe a little too long) that I actually owned the skirt already (woo hoo!!) Do you know what is more exciting than getting a magazine you love in the mail? Owning a piece that is featured in the magazine and realizing it after an, undisclosed, amount of time (let me be clear, I don’t have that many articles of clothing, they are just squished together). Needless to say, I decided to pull out my (once lost but now is found) circle skirt and I fell in love all over again.
The skirt is high-waisted, lined with a small amount of crinoline to give it some fluff, and has a fun, striped design (I’m so sorry I lost you skirt, you deserved so much better). I paired it with a simple navy crop top (which works perfect because it is so high-waisted), nude pumps, and a polka dot clutch for a little more fun, but really, the possibilities are endless. It is really feminine, so when you put it on, you feel very dainty (until you trip and almost wipe out in front of a whole restaurant. Oh wait, that’s just me). You can throw it on and feel very put together, which is key for a light, easy summer piece.
If you are nervous about wearing a circle skirt, I put together some of my favorites that are really easy to wear! Here’s to a breezy and happily, unexpected start to the summer!
