Something I’ve learned through moving often is that every city, county, or corner has something to offer. It’s always really cool to go through your town as if you are traveling there for the first time. I try to bring my camera everywhere I go because I find that when I look through my lens, the world becomes a grand place. Finding your joy in the ordinary is all about making your everyday world a grander place.
This blog post is the perfect example of this. Finding cool little nooks and crannies in your town is so exciting. Seeing the beauty in the pebble sidewalks or the blooming trees or the church corners is a joy game changer. I equate it to walking through Paris the first time (which there isn’t much that compares to that, if I’m being honest, but still). I walked the streets so slowly (so slow, I actually got separated from my group. I did freak out for a second, but at least I knew I could find wine and steak frites..that helped), looking at every window trimming, every building design, every flower, every tree, observed the people, the clouds, any view I could see, I looked at. I tried to absorb anything I could, which is part of why the experience was so special. Although Raleigh may not compare to Paris (or whatever town you live in), I do believe it has sparkle, it’s just waiting to be seen.
To find the Easter eggs of charm, you have to believe they could be at any corner and trust me, they are. I am super excited to explore another day in downtown Raleigh to find even more cute, quirky, beautiful details and I hope you are feeling inspired to see your town in a whole new way!
