So a few weekends back, I was able to go home to Virginia and have a great girls night with my sister. We decided to do drinks and dinner in the cute little downtown area of Roanoke. This was one of the first times that my sister and I were able to spend time together, just the two of us, in our home town, and have a girls night out together. Look at how precious she is:

I just kept thinking the whole time I was with her (and the whole weekend I spent with old friends and family), this is exactly why I moved back. These every day moments, every day weekends, just every day life that I’ve missed so much while we were gone, was so perfect. It’s everything I wanted.

I got a really cool recommendation from an old high school friend on a good drinks/dinner location, so we headed to River and Rail from the downtown area (just a few miles away). Roanoke is definitely not metropolitan, but this little restaurant could rival some really cool places I’ve gone to in much bigger cities. (The Bee’s Knees was as promised, the bee’s knees. Like top two for me).

We had light apps and cocktails and I can guarantee you, I’ll be going back the next time I’m in town.

So thankful for such a fun night with my sister, for amazing food, for our relationship, and for the awesome person she’s becoming. River and Rail, you were exactly what we needed to celebrate our grown up girls night.
