My husband’s favorite salad that I make has blue cheese, cranberries, and sliced almonds, topped with champagne dressing. Because we eat it so often, we sometimes have a love hate relationship with the salad (sorry salad, I hate for you to find out this way). To be able to enjoy a bit of our favorite flavors but give us a break from the salad, I decided to share the topping love with another food, brussels sprouts (salad, how do you feel about an open relationship?). I changed out the champagne dressing for a homemade balsamic reduction and found a way to revitalize some of our favorite toppings.
Last night, a friend and I went out for drinks. As girls sometimes do, we were counting calories, so we ordered skinny margaritas (I’m rolling my eyes at myself). I realized (in the middle of judging myself for trying to squeeze in a restaurant margarita as part of my allotted calories) I could easily make a skinny margarita at home but without the fillers or pre-made mixers, so that’s what I did.
