from an outlook on the mountain
I have continuously struggled with this over the years. I’d love to have a legitimate excuse why I’m always looking to tomorrow, but I don’t.
Valentine’s Day is coming up soon. I realize just typing the last sentence is like lacing this post with a holiday explosive. For some, the explosion is full of pink “XO” confetti, homemade “1 free hug” coupons, and heart shape cookie cutters to shape everything from pancakes to dog food in hearts (I can honestly say I’m pretty much this explosion). For others, the explosion is more black roses and heart piñatas. So if you find yourself swooning just thinking of Valentine’s, keep reading, if not, look away and hit that piñata one extra time.
my happy place in Florence
I realize I have been nonexistent over the past few months (and super spotty before that), so I wanted to start off by saying sorry, followed up with a thank you to all the awesome readers who wrote emails and kept me feeling encouraged. Honestly, your words were much needed and so appreciated. Before we start right back in the groove of things, let me catch you guys up on what’s been going on (grab some popcorn, this could take a while).

The hubby and I realized earlier this year that we needed to experience Chicago the way we did when we visited as tourists. We don’t take advantage of how great this city is enough. Our favorite time of year is the fall, so we thought, what a perfect time to become tourists again in this amazing city!
