  • her story: When Kali was born, her nerves didn’t develop completely, which left her deaf. She was lucky enough to be born into a litter of puppies that was cared for immensely, so knowing Kali wouldn’t be a good fit for everyone, she contacted Kevan. Kevan already had adopted a boston terrier from Kali’s owner a couple of years before and so she knew Kevan and his partner would be a good fit. Kevan’s partner spoke in fluent sign and upon meeting Kali, he knew their family wouldn’t be complete without her. They adopted Kali and she has been living the good life ever since.
    • On a side note, it is amazing to see how much she understands and to think how patient you must be to be able to communicate with a puppy who can only see you. This story actually really touched my heart because it takes a big person to commit to a puppy, but an amazing person to commit to a puppy who needs extra attention and care. What an inspiration.
  • favorite treat: she enjoys being the pre-wash cycle for the dishwasher (a.k.a. she loves to lick the plates clean from dinner)
  • favorite toy: a squeaker from a stuffed animal that she surgically removed (shredded) and now carries the squeaky (that doesn’t squeak) around like a baby.
  • favorite activity: hiking…with her cat bell. She is so well-behaved that Kevan and his partner allow her off the leash, but they obviously give her a cat bell so they can hear where she is. She never ventures too far (she is pretty attached to Kevan), but after meeting her, I think she probably enjoys the daintiness of a cat bell.
