  • her story: Missy was born at the SPCA and was adopted at only 16 weeks old, so when Missy made her way back to the shelter a few months later, Terry Haines, an adoption counselor at the SPCA of Mckinney, was a little thrown off. It turns out, Missy was having trouble potty training and unfortunately, the owners abused her with a broom and newspaper because of it (sadly, Missy turned out to be incontinent, so it really wasn’t her fault). Lucky for Terry, the owners brought her back to the shelter, just in time for him to fall in love with her. (He actually said, “You know when you connect with a dog and you just know they are meant for you? That was Missy.” I almost cried.) Terry has been happily spoiling his soul-pup since July 2009.
  • favorite treat: Pupperoni
  • favorite toy: Her mallard duck that she keeps neatly in her bin (although one of her best friends that comes over for play dates spends time pulling them all out).
  • favorite activity: she has two favorites: the first is playing with her other best friend at the dog park, Maggie. The second favorite is walking in the “strut your mutt” parade with her vest on (her vest is a 6 can beer holder vest..she’s the life of the party).

Special note: There is a chance I enjoyed Terry as much as I enjoyed Missy and their bond was undeniable. Last week, they celebrated with mimosas at the dog park for their 5th year anniversary together (I can’t even stop smiling it’s so adorable, I had to share.)

Missy is a great companion for my father. We are blessed that she chose our family. And they make a fantastic pair! XOXO
